Test Everything

This is really sad.  The new visitor center at our Capital will be opening in a few months.  This should be a good thing right?  Not so!  Come to find out, this center has taken God out of our history completely.  They have taken parts of the constitution out which pointed to God or religion.  They recreated the part of the building which says, “In God we trust”.  Now it says nothing, and so on.  I am sure the tax payers paid for this $600 million dollar exhibit.  And if so, we are paying to be lied to and for children to be misinformed about our true heritage.  I love the quote in the video below.  It is so true…whoever controls the present controls the future.  Something like that…it’s in the video and you’ll see what I mean.  We need to stand up for our true heritage.  This country relied on God to shape it.  Did you know the pilgrims started electing their own officials because of a verse in Exodus which stated that you should elect officials from amongst yourselves?  That had never happened before.  There had always been a king, a emperor, etc.  So where did they come up with this?  THE BIBLE!!

Funny, this building is built deep under ground…sounds like a dark pit to me!  How can our goverment allow this?  I know, I know, those liberals.  But what about the people that are conservitives?  I had no idea this was going on.  Please inform your friends.  You can choose to believe in God, but you should not be able to take Him out of our true history.  History is what has happened already, how can you just make it up as you go along?  I’m disgusted.

Well, it has been a while since I have written anything here.  The reason is, I have been studying, studying deception.  I looked into the bible verses that speak of deception and the commentary that would give a deeper meaning of it.  After I had done this, I sat down to write a blog about what the Lord had revealed to me in His word.  I haven’t finished that paper yet.  Because, deception in today’s society is so vast that it was almost impossible to cover it all in a post that people would not get “blogged out” reading.  So I set that aside to pray about it.

God is so good to answer prayer…it just amazes me still.  I think it always will.  Today’s sermon at our church was about offending people, tolerance and how people seem to be accepting everything in the name of it, and specifically Matthew 17:24-27.  Jesus knowing that He did not have to pay the temple tax required at the time, paid it anyway and told Peter to do it as not to offend anyone.  Now anyone who reads the Bible on a daily basis, or even weekly basis, knows that Jesus said himself that He had come to offend.  He had come to split families.  But this shows another side.  (The sermon, taught by Damian Kyle, was very informative and you can listen to it on-line at http://www.ccmodesto.com )

Jesus didn’t mind offending people when it came to the reason He was here on the Earth.  He loves everyone enough to offend them when it comes to their eternal life.  So, I had to ask myself, “where is your paper on deception going?”  And, I realized that the only deception I should address at this moment is a most common deception that has everything to do with eternal life and personal salvation.

First, let us look at what deception is.  The meaning of the word decpetion in the dictionary is: the act of deceiving or the state of being deceived.  The meaning of the word deceive is: to mislead by a false apperance or statement.  So biblically, any statement that contridicts God’s Word would be false and therefore a deception.  So if you do not know the truth which is in God’s Word, you are at risk of being deceived.

Now, some may say that it is a deception to believe that you are saved simply by trusting in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.  Then, following that by being fully submerged in water as a sign of your dying with Christ and being raised from death. (This is known as water baptism.)  But I say the deception is believing this is not the way!

I can not unlearn what I know to be true and it is simple and it is clear.  John 3:16, “And God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whomever would believe in Him should not perish but have ever lasting life.”  Jesus, Himself, said, “unless you are born again of water and the Spirt you may not enter the kingdom of heaven.”   He said, “I am the way the truth and the life.”  He said, “No one comes to the Father except through the Son.”  He clearly tells the way to salvation and He tells of what will happen if one does not accept the gift that was sent by God.

Now, I could have gone into many different spiritual deceptions here, but I won’t.  Because without salvation, nothing else matters.  I start there.  Because a wise man once said, “God will work the rest out.”

Please take this time to read the following verses in your own Bible.  Pray that God will give you a heart to know what He is saying.  And remember, that a seeking heart will always long to know the truth.  A seeking heart, a true seeking heart, will not be afraid of the truth.  Because, “the truth will set you free!”

(John 3:16, Acts 4:10-12, Romans 1:16, Ephesians 1:13, 1 Thessalonians 5:9, 2 Timothy 2:10, John 14:6, John 6:37, John 3:5)

Tonight I was reading the Book of 1 John.  I came to verse, “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.”  I find this interesting in that, again, the Bible tells us to “test” what we see, or hear, whether it is from God.  How might we test these things, but only by the Word of God.

There are many wonders and signs that happen in our world today.  You may not know, but there are appearances all over the world.  Great sights and healing, and even extraterrestrial sightings.  I believe that most of these are real.  People really get healed, people really see signs and wonders, and the extraterrestrials…well, that I don’t know about.  But are they from God?

One way to test these things is to question, “Do they point to God?” and “Do they contradict God’s word?”

We must always consult God’s Word, because it is His written truth.  It is a place to find our answers.

But why can we trust God’s Word?

Because God can not lie.

There are people who claim that the Bible is full of contradictions, but to contradict means: to imply the opposite of or deny your words.  Therefore He, that is God, can not contradict Himself either.

In Titus 1:2, Paul writes to Titus, “in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began”  Paul is clearly telling Titus to believe what God says because He cannot lie and has promised eternal life to those who believe in His Son, Jesus Christ.

When ever you are confronted with any sign or miracle, or wonder, examine it with the Word of God.  Think about where your eyes are directed, are they directed to God?  Who gets the credit for it, is it God?  Does God get the glory?  And, of course…does it contradict the Word?

If your eyes are not directed towards God, and God does not get the glory, and most importantly the miracle or sighting contradicts God’s Word, it is my belief that you are not witnessing anything from the Lord.

I pray that everyone who reads this, will open their Bible and read.  Read and pray, that the Lord can open your heart to the truth which is in His Word so that you will not be deceived by the ultimate deceiver.  The Bible says that the devil can come as an angel of light.  He comes to deceive, even the most devout.

God bless you today.

Mark 7 17-19 Jesus is explaining to His disciples regarding eating things that can make you unclean.  This is after the Scribes and Pharisees had criticised the disciples for eating with unwashed hands. Jesus rebuked the Pharisees because they were going about traditions of cleaning cups and such,  which had never been a part of God’s Law.  The Pharisees had added hundreds of petty rules to God’s Law and forced people to follow them.  The washing of hands was a ceremonial washing that was a tradition passed down through the generations and enforced by the Pharisees.  Let us take a look at Jesus’ explanation:

“So He said to them, ‘Are you thus without understanding also? Do you not perceive that whatever enters a man from outside cannot defile him, because it does not enter his heart but his stomach, and is eliminated, thus purifying all foods?’ “

There are a lot of faiths that still believe that you must abstain from certain foods, such as pork, in order to fulfill the laws of God.  But for me, this verse helps to explain that nothing you eat can make you unclean or defile you.  Interestingly, it also works the other way.  Nothing you eat can make you clean or holy either.  This because, as Jesus clearly states, it does not enter his heart but his stomach, and is eliminated,”.

Some might think that verse is only valid for the specific example of ceremonial washing and the traditions of the Pharisees.  But as we know from the an earlier post, “all Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” (2 Timothy 3:16)

Looking at “for doctrine“, if we follow doctrine or teach as doctrine, anything that is not in line with Jesus’ teaching, we are like the Pharisees whom Jesus was rebuking.  Those are strong words, I know. I don’t say this to sound judgemental.  It is truth.  Why?  Because the Pharisees made God’s laws more difficult than God made them.  You cannot make God’s way to salvation through Jesus Christ more special, more honorable, more sacred, more beautiful, more giving, or more sacrificial, then God has already decided it to be.  His way is perfect.  So, I use the Scripture for “reproof”; meaning:  an act or expression of criticism and censure,  Censure meaning: harsh criticism or disapproval ,  because the doctrine is not in line with Jesus’ teaching.

Now, we will look at the “correction” of doctrine which is in line with Jesus’ teaching.  What can defile a person?  Let us look at Mark 7:20-23 ” And He said,” (That is Jesus), “What comes out of a man, that defiles a man.  For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornication’s, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness.  All these evil things come from within and defile a man.”   Our heart defiles us.  Our words, our actions, our emotional outbursts, defile us.  That is why we must change our hearts in order to become clean.  In clean I mean justified.  But we can not do that ourselves.  That is where the Holy Spirit comes in.  When we put our faith in Jesus Christ as our Savior, the Holy Spirit comes into our hearts and resides with us.  Our heart begins to change, and we begin to produce the fruits of the Spirit which is, “love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith.” (Galatians 5:22) Because He (that is the Holy Spirit) is working in us.

Dear Lord,

Let us read Your Word today, and take it as it is…Truth.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The following verses are from the book of Romans.

Romans 3:20 “Therefore, by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”

Romans 3:28 “Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law.”

Romans 4:3 “For what does the Scripture say? ‘Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.’

Romans 5:1-2 ” Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were sinners, Christ died for us.”

Take some time to read through Romans.  It is an amazing book of the Bible which points to many truths.

God bless you today. -J

This verse is in Romans, chapter 1:22-23.  Here Paul is teaching the Romans about the wrath of God on unrighteousness.  He, that is Paul, is explaining how the just live by faith in Jesus Christ and in Him alone.  Here it is in its entirety: “Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man-and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.”

In these verses, Paul is not just talking about images that many people worship as holy things, but also anything that takes the place of God in our lives.  Money, power, family, works, and many other things, can become idols in our lives if we put them first in our life.  It is important to remember that there is only One God, the Father, to whom we pray and give thanksgiving for all things.

Going back to the images that have become holy in the lives of very well meaning people, God calls them idols.  We must be careful not to pray to any image, not to adore any image, not to give value to any image or candle or power, other than God.  He is all we need.  Everything else is man made and is only profitable for this Earth.  And this Earth is of flesh and of Satan.  Anything that takes your eyes of God, is not of God.  The Bible says God is a jealous God.  We are not to have any false Gods.  Even if the image seems to be good, the way it takes our eyes of God is not.

The Bible says that Satan will perform miracles and wonders.  These signs are not going to be “evil” and “horrifying”, they will be as the Bible says….  wonderful.  Because Satan’s motive on Earth is to deceive.  Especially those who love God.  He will make even the most devout, the most faithful, take their eyes off God and give credit where credit is not due.  We have one Redeemer, One God, One Savior.  God can not lie, and can not contridict Himself, and He says we have but one Mediator between God and Man, the Son, Christ Jesus.  Who will you put your trust in today?

May God bless you today.

The Bible teaches very clearly on this exact subject.  We are to pray only to God through Jesus.  Why can I stand on this teaching, where can I find my examples?  Well, in 1 Timothy 2:5, Apostle Paul writes, “For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time, for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle-I am speaking the truth in Christ and not lying-a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.”

In this passage, we can be sure we are in the correct teaching of the Lord when we pray only to God through Jesus Christ.  There is no other mediator for us.  Why would we need one?  If we are to say we aren’t worthy to have a connection to God, we are sinners and have done things that have separated us from God, we would be right!  We are not worthy!  But, God sent Jesus to die on the cross for our sins.  Yours, and mine.  We are washed clean of our sins through the blood of Jesus.  The Bible says, Jesus was the sacrifice for sins, once and for all.  In fact, the Bible says this several times.  Therefore, connecting us back to God through Jesus.  Isn’t God awesome!!

So pray!!  Pray without ceasing, the Bible says.  Pray in Jesus’ name only!  Give your life to Christ, so that He may save you from your sins and you will have a direct connection to God through Him (Jesus)!

God Bless you.

And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.  Colossians 3:17

It is not enough to go about doing good deeds without thinking about who we are representing.  For we are representatives of God.  We must, with all our words and all our deeds, glorify God in heaven.  This way those who do not know Him will question us, either out loud or in their heart, to know what makes us different from others in the world.

Each day we must get up with the intent to glorify only God through Jesus Christ.  When we put this into practice, we begin to draw closer to God.  As we grow closer to God, we can become more like the person He created us to be.  We hear Him more clearly, and we know His voice in our crowded minds.  Take some time today to glorify God in your words and deeds.  Do all things as unto the Lord and let His spirit shine through you.
